You Never Know! Anything Goes!

While a lot of reports on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, showing that Air France Flight 447’s black boxes have been found, The Associated Press confirmed that according to a French official, their military ships heard sounds but not from the missing plane’s black boxes.

The French newspaper Le Monde posted it in their site that French ships had detected a signal that according to them, came from the black boxes. Unfortunately, an assigned French official denied the report.

French military ships searching in the area where the plane crashed have “heard sounds” but “the black boxes have not been detected,” said an aide to France’s minister in charge of transport, Jean-Louis-Borloo. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to be publicly named.

BEA director, Paul-Louis Arslanian, advised last week not to release any information publicly unless verified by proper authorities for it may further worry or encourage the families and this could misinform the public as well. BEA is the investigation agency assigned to the plane’s disappearance. They release a statement on Tuesday saying that “no signals transmitted by the flight recorders’ locator beacons have been validated up to now.”

What happened to the Airbus A330 on May 31st will not be known until the two black boxes are recovered. Flight 447 is supposed to take the route from Rio de Janeiro-Galeao International Airport, RJ (GIG) to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) but mysteriously disappeared, along with the 228 passengers, in the Atlantic waters. Alas, these recorders will only carry on sending out signal for another eight days or so.

Rest assured, the BEA, together with searchers from Brazil, France, U.S and other countries, are systematically scanning and searching the area above and below the surface and listening to any sound that will give out the location of the missing black boxes.
