American Airlines Flight 331 crashed in Jamaica at 10 pm local time on Tuesday night. The Boeing 737 overshot the runway while landing in driving rain at the international airport in Kingston, Jamaica’s Norman Manley International Airport. Fortunately, the company said there were no fatalities or serious injuries. However, according to several other sources, American Airlines flight 331 is said to have been split in half after skidding off the runway and crashing while landing in Kingston, Jamaica.

“The injured passengers have been taken to the Kingston Public Hospital,” Jamaican Information Minister Daryl Vaz told the Jamaica Observer. “There are no reports of fatalities.”

There were 148 passengers on the said plane as well as six crew members. The flight originated out of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, operated into Miami International Airport, and then operated into Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport where it was raining when the plane came for landing.

According to a statement by American Airlines, they are in direct contact with officials from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration and are cooperating fully with appropriate authorities. American Airlines will not speculate as to possible causes of the incident.  At this point, no additional details can be confirmed.
