Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Teaser at Comic-Con 2010

We heard rumors that the film might not be pursued because of budget constraints but hurray because it’s really happening.

A pre-recorded teaser of the one Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was released at the Comic-Con 2010. Since Captain Jack Sparrow will be away shooting for the upcoming fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, he made sure he has left something for his beloved fans.

“You may have also hear whisperings and rumors that Jack Sparrow will be recruiting a crew to undertake a voyage to the fountain of youth. Not true. Of course not. But even if it weren’t not true, you wouldn’t be interested in joining me, would you?” Captain Jack Sparrow said while swinging his bottle of rum.

The film started production last June and Johnny Depp will reprise his character as the deranged Captain Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush returns as Captain Hector Barbossa.

Unfortunately, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, who played pirate Will Turner and his love Elizabeth Swann in the previous three movies, have not signed on for the fourth installment. But Oscar-winner Penelope Cruz will play Sparrow’s love interest and the daughter of the pirate Blackbeard, played by Ian McShane from Deadwood.

“In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past, and he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth,” Walt Disney Pictures said in its statement.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will be released on May 20, 2011 and in 3D. It will be directed by Rob Marshall, Memoirs of a Geisha and Chicago, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

This is going to be great. Can’t wait.

Thor Movie Trailer Unvieled at Comic-Con 2010

As soon as Thor trailer first unveiled at the Comic-Con 2010, everyone who wasn’t at the event started to search for clip. Unfortunately, Thor trailer is still not available online.

Marvel Studios released a 3D sneak peek from Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of the Norse god comic book character. Of all the things that stood out at the event, Thor and his mighty hammer Mjolnir was one of them.

The Thor panel consists of Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (now confirmed as the Hulk) and they presented the Comic-Con audience with a full trailer of the upcoming film.

The trailer’s first scene was of Thor being interrogated on Earth. Then, the setting changed to outerspace, traveling through the galaxy, until we end up in Odin’s hall in Asgard. Because of Thor’s arrogance, Odin, Thor’s father, took away his powers and he was banished on Earth. We also had our first glimpse of Odin’s adoptive son, Loki.

On Earth, Thor meets his love interest Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman. Meanwhile, back in Asgard, Odin is dying. Because of Thor’s absence, the thrown was given to Loki.

The famed Destroyer armor makes its first appearance in the trailer as well, with some of S.H.I.E.L.D agents and the trailer ended with him blasting the cars and the film title logo.

You can’t watch any videos online right now because it is only exclusive to Comic-Con. Let’s just wait until its official release and we beg Marvel to release it soon.

Thor is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2011.

New Trailer for Tron: Legacy Premiers at Comic-Con 2010

It’s the time of the year again for annual San Diego Comic-Con, the largest comics convention in the United States. It started Thursday and will Sunday, July 25, 2010.

It’s like watching the The Big Bang Theory series but this time, it’s for real. You will be surrounded by enthusiasts, or you can call them nerds/geeks, of comic books, animations, video games, movies, collectible cards, anime, manga, toys and more. The attendees for the past years have reached to 126,000.

The first day of the even was packed with celebrities promoting their upcoming movies. Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill was present for the new DreamWorks Animation film “Megamind” and Angelina Jolie flew in to promote her new spy movie “Salt”.

One of the topics that have been gathering early attention at the 2010 Comic-Con is the movie Tron Legacy, a sequel to the 1982 Tron film. There’s a neon bike from the movie being displayed at the convention hall floor by the way.

Tron stars were also present at the event: Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen (first appearance), Bruce Boxleitner and Jeff Bridges. The effects, the gears, the technology, 3D, criticisms and the first movie were discussed during the Tron Legacy panel from Hall H.

Jeff Bridges talks about his two characters, Flynn and his avatar within the movie where he looks 35 years old again, thanks to CGI, he really looks like in the 1982 film.

The beautiful Olivia Wilde talks about her “powerful, tough, kick ass” character in the film, a fearless warrior named Quorra.

And the best thing of all, a new trailer of the film was released.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt May Play Prime Villian Riddler in Batman 3

Now that blockbuster movie Inception is out and proves to be a money maker, Christopher Nolan can give us a little sneak peak about Batman 3, even just a juicy little info.

The first two Batman movies that he made were really good that it left fans hungry for more. Well, we heard reports that Riddler will be Batman 3’s main villain and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the prime candidate to play him.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is possibly one of the most underrated actors out there. He was in the indie Brick movie, played the Cobra Commander in 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, yes that was him just wearing a weird looking mask, and the latest movie hit Inception.

Gordon-Levitt as Riddler may be just a rumor for now but one thing we know for sure is that the villain Riddler will be in the third installment of Nolan’s Batman film. There are a few actors who expressed interest in the part and Robin Williams was one of those. But they’d probably hire a young actor to fill in the part. Aside from his fresh and great performance in Inception, we think Gordon-Levitt is perfect for the role. He even looks like the villain himself.

Oh, how we wish Nolan can confirm this news soon. For now, we will keep our fingers crossed and hope that this rumor will become reality.

Daniel Radcliffe Signs With ‘Woman in Black’ Film

Now that Harry Potter is about to come to an end, Harry Potter stars have to move on.

The beautiful and charming Emma Watson has been promoting high fashion products and was recently featured in a music video with One Night Only singer boyfriend George Craig. Rupert Grint, a.k.a. Ron Weasley, was in movies Cherrybomd and Wild Target.

Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliff has signed up to star in a movie adaptation of The Woman In Black.

Radcliff will be taking off his Hogwarts Gryffindor uniform and take on the role of a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps. Kipps travels to a remote village to settle the estate of a deceased client and uncovers some ghostly secrets about the place. The Woman in Black is based on Susan Hill’s best-selling novel.

The film will be directed by James Watkins film from a screenplay by Kick-Ass‘ Jane Goldman and production is expected to begin in the fall.

“I am incredibly excited to be part of The Woman In Black. Jane Goldman’s script is beautifully written — both tender and terrifying in equal measure,” Daniel said. “It is thrilling to be working with James Watkins. From his brilliant work on Eden Lake and also having met him and heard his vision for the film, I know he will make a fantastic film.”

This will be Daniel’s first movie role after shooting the final Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows film earlier this year. Part I will be released on 19 November 2010 and part II on 15 July 2011.

Andrew Garfield Cast as the Next Spider-Man

The new Spider-Man has been named and that would be the young British actor Andrew Garfield. Sony has announced that Garfield, 24, will now play the role of Peter Parker and his superhero alter ego. He will be replacing Tobey Maguire, who appeared in the previous three versions of the film and quit the franchise earlier in 2010, in the not yet named Spider-Man reboot.

“The role demands an extraordinary actor. … An actor who will depict the vulnerability of youth and the strength and confidence of a legendary figure at the same moment,” Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairwoman Amy Pascal and Columbia Pictures President Matt Tolmach said in a joint statement. “We have found that actor in Andrew Garfield. From the first time we saw him in the upcoming film The Social Network, to his glorious screen test, which floored all of us, we knew that we had found our new Peter Parker.”

Yes, you probably have seen before. He played Todd Hayes in the 2007 Lions For Lambs and as Anton in 2009′s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Marc Webb, the director of the next Spider-man movie, is quite confident that fans will surely love Andrew Garfield in this new film.

“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents,” said Marc Webb. “He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

You will see more of Andrew Garfield in Never Let Me Go movie co-starring Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan, and The Social Network, the Facebook movie directed by David Fincher. While Spider-Man” is set for a 2012 release.

‘Eclipse’ No. 1 at Box Office Fourth of July Weekend

As expected, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse ruled the July 4th holiday box-office weekend.

Eclipse, the third installment in the Twilight Saga, sold about $121.4 million worth of tickets from Wednesday to Friday, according to distributor Summit Entertainment. The movie debuted last Wednesday alone with $68.5 million, the second-best opening-day haul in history just behind last year’s “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” which opened with $72.7 million.

So for its first five days, the film made an impressive $161 million of ticket sales, the fifth-biggest on record, and still $3 million behind the first five days of New Moon. After that huge first day, “Eclipse” averaged about $23 million daily over the next four days and that includes the forecast that sales will decrease on Sunday because of the Fourth of July activities.

“Weather has a lot to do with a Fourth of July opening. I’m not looking to make excuses, but between barbecues and fireworks, we have a lot of competition,” said Richie Fay, head of distribution for Summit. “I do think people will come back to the movie.”

There is a slim chance that eclipse will surpass Spider-Man 2’s $180 million six-day opening in 2004, it opened with $88 million on its Fri-Sun weekend and $151 million in the first five days. But mind you, it doesn’t have a $68.5 million opening day.

Meanwhile, even though the movie did not receive good reviews from the criticxs, Paramount’s The Last Airbender opened well with $40.7 million to finish at No. 2.

Eclipse Movie Review: Spoiler Alert!

If you’re a certified twihard, we bet you already know the story of Eclipse. For those of you who haven’t read the book yet, let us tell you what we think about its film adaptation.

After New Moon was released November last year, fans have been waiting for the arrival of Eclipse. Who can blame them?

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are back again on the big screen to continue their role as lovers who are caught in a love triangle. New Moon left us all hanging after Edward asked Bella to marry him. In Eclipse, Jacob is more persistent than ever trying to convince Bella to stay human. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, spoiler alert ahead.

Victoria, now played by Bryce Dallas Howard, has created an army of newborn vampires to help her avenge the death of her lover, James. Newborn are hard to control vampires and as they grew in numbers, they drew attention from the Volturi.

But the focus of this movie is more on the romance between Edward, Bella and Jacob. Edward was like Twilight all over again with his romantic and passionate attitude towards Bella. Jacob, what can we say about him? He’s buff, hunk, stubborn and he loves Bella too. He wants to show her that he is the better option, the healthy choice and that he’s good for her. And Bella, she knows what she wants but she can’t say it because she doesn’t want to hurt anybody. Edward or Jacob?

The wolf pack has now increased in number. Quil Ateara is now a wolf along with Leah Clearwater, the only female werewolf in the pack, and Seth Clearwater, the youngest. Now that Bella’s life is in danger again, the Cullens must form an alliance with the pack to keep Bella safe.

What fanatics will surely appreciate about this movie is that they didn’t left behind the stories of Rosalie and Jasper. The reason behind why Rose ‘hated’ Bella and how did she became a vampire was revealed. The history of Jasper was also recalled in the film and his experience with creating an army of newborn vampires. They used this expertise to brace themselves with their fight against Victoria’s army.

We commend director David Slade did a good job in this film. The effects were good. He focused more on the romance side of the story than the visual effects and he tried to squeeze in everything in the book into a two-hour film to please the fans.

We know you have been waiting for Eclipse so we won’t stop you. Just like Twilight and New Moon, the movie is what you have expected and we definitely recommend it to all twihards out there. If you love the book, you will love this film also. Plus, there’s more kissing here than the two previous films combined that will surely send your heart in a frantic mode.

Meanwhile, the first half of Breaking Dawn will be released on November 18, 2011‎. The film has been confirmed to be split in two-parts. The second part will be sometime in summer 2012.

Christopher Nolan Confirms ‘Batman 3′ Script in Progress

We can’t deny that Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are such beautiful masterpieces, two of the best Batman films ever created. And when we heard that Batman 3’s script is underway, we can’t help but look forward to the third film.

After the success of The Dark Knight, moviegoers already started to wait for any announcement regarding the third installment of the Batman film franchise.

Last march 2010, Nolan’s involvement with The Dark Knight sequel was confirmed but he expressed that it will be his last and a conclusion to the story.

“Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story . . . I’m very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters. My brother [Jonah Nolan] has come up with some pretty exciting stuff,” Nolan said.

MTV.com had the chance to sit down with British-American director while he is promoting his latest film, Inception. The filmmaker was asked to verify the reports that the will be released on July 2012 and would begin filming in March 2011, he just replied:

“Yes and no, I suppose, would be the answer. We know we would be aiming for 2012, and that’s been talked about, but we’re just working on the script really,” he explained. “My brother’s been hard at work on it for quite some time, based on a story that myself and David Goyer have written.”

Aside form the confirmation that the Joker will not return, a role Heath Ledger had played extremely well, we already know that they are already working on the script. And that is already good news for us.

Teaser Trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for Part 1 & 2 Released!!

It’s almost over. The end of Harry Potter is near. Good thing they split Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into two parts. We can still prolong that magical feeling we’ve been longing to experience over and over again since we saw that adorable little boy with the lightning scar on his forehead in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

The Harry Potter series concludes in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” which was published in 2007 by J.K. Rowling. This final chapter is going on the big screen soon.

Now, the first full-length trailer for “Deathly Hallows” debuts online early Monday evening, June 28. It is the final adventure of Harry Potter and his friends to find a way to defeat the evil Lord Voldermort. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson reprise their roles as Harry, Ron and Hermione. This is where all the questions were answered and all the doubts become faith.

Yes, “Deathly Hallows” will still be split into two movies but trailer combines scenes from both films, the final battle between Boy Who Lived and He Who Must Not Be Named. Then we are enticed with glimpses of Harry Potter and Lord Voldermort himself in the Forbidden Forest, breaking into Gringotts Wizarding Bank, the ride in old flying motorcycle, and the battle against the Death Eaters at the Hogwarts castle and more…

This movie is going to be awesome, no doubt about that. Part I will be released on 19 November 2010 (2010-11-19) and Part II on 15 July 2011 (2011-07-15) so mark your calendar people.
