About two weeks ago, Kate Gosselin’s attorney, Mark Momjian, said that Jon Gosselin has emptied his joint bank account with estranged wife. Jon allegedly removed $200,000 from the former couple’s joint bank account and leaving Kate a mere $1,000 to pay for their bills and other expenses. The court had previously warned the former couple that neither could remove significant amounts from the account without the other’s approval.
Now Jon has been ordered by a Pennsylvania judge to return $180,000 in marital funds for Kate Gosselin by October 26 or the judge will haul him back to face potential contempt charges. It’s a part of $232,000 that Kate claimed Jon took from the account against their divorce arbitrator’s explicit orders. And an arbitrator will review another $55,000 Kate says she spent on household and child-related expenses.
“The remaining sum of $55,000, which Ms. Gosselin used for household bills and expenses relating to the children, will be subject to further determination by the arbitrator at a later date,” Mark Momjian said on Tuesday.
“As difficult as this has been for me, I am pleased that the Court has ruled fairly on behalf of myself and my children. Now that this matter has been ruled on, I look forward to returning to private arbitration, as we have agreed to do, to resolve any remaining issues,” Kate Gosselin adds.
Jon Gosselin’s lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, released a statement saying there was no proof that the $55,000 was used for family expenses. That amount of money might have been misapplied and misused by Kate. She must also provide a detailed accounting of past expenses by the same date.
