New Wonder Woman Costume, Win or Fail?!
Wonder Woman is without a doubt one of the sexiest superhero in DC Universe. Now Diana is getting a whole new look and costume.
After decades of wearing the same outfit, a blue shorts with white stars, a bold bustier, and red boots, she will now look different with her tight blue pants, designed by Jim Lee, starting today. You’ll see the new Diana for the first time on Wonder Woman #600 that is now available.
Yes, she is now wearing a blue pants and a jacket. The tiara is still there but it has been modified along with her gold belt and gloves. The reason behind the changes? Writer J. Michael Straczynski, who is taking over writing the comic, commented on a DC Comics blog post, “I wanted to toughen her up, and give her a modern sensibility.” She’s going with the newest trends, to put it simply. Not only did they change her costume but her origin too.
“It’s now nearly twenty years later. Diana has been raised in an urban setting, but with a foot in both worlds. She has little or no memory of the other timeline. She knows only what she’s been told by those who raised her. On the run, hunted, she must try to survive, help the other refugee Amazons escape the army that is still after them, discover who destroyed Paradise Island and why…and if the timeline can be corrected or not. She also does not yet have access to her full powers, but will be gaining them as she goes. Along the way, she will face a range of enemies — human and otherwise — who we have not seen before.”
Diana’s new costume has generated debates among comic fans. Some were outraged by this while some liked it. What do you think of Wonder Woman’s new outfit? Do you hate it or do you think it’s about time that they made her more modern.

I don’t like it at all. I think the Amazon grandness feel to her is gone. Sure Diana is sexy, but I view her as the less provocative of most heroines. This new look makes her look like any other promiscuous looking heroine.Even her facial structure is different. She looks much more mischievous. I didn’t think her to be one for so much makeup. Maybe that’s just me, because I view her more along the lines of Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross.
i hate it, i don’t like to use such a strong negative word…….but i hate it very much.
Some might like to know an update on the progress if they read this article. ( to throw my two cents, I love the new look.) The Jacket has been destroyed in the storyline, and her costume continues to evolve along the way. She looks awesome without the jacket. In the latest issue I have, she now has a cape with her well known star pattern. And the writers (in a mail answering page at the back of the comic) Says the costume will continue to evolve as the story goes. They also have reasons why she doesn’t know the other timeline, which I think they handled well.
