You Never Know! Anything Goes!

Braydon Edwards, a Cleveland Browns former receiver and currently a wide receiver for the New York Jets, continued to make headlines and has been charged with misdemeanor assault over accusations that he allegedly punched a man outside a Cleveland nightclub.

Cleveland prosecutor filed the charge Monday it carries a sentence of a maximum six months in jail and a fine of $1,000. The arraignment is scheduled for November 17 in the Cleveland Municipal Court.

Patrick D’Angelo, an attorney for Edwards, says his client will enter a plea of not guilty.

November last year, Edwards was fined $150 and given 30 hours of community service after he was found guilty of driving 120 mph. Then, Edwards was out partying last March with suspended wide receiver Donte Stallworth the night Stallworth drove drunk and killed a pedestrian in Miami.

Edwards was also an irregular participant in Mangini’s off-season programs and missed part of mini-camp and training camp with an ankle injury he sustained while playing basketball. Before Mangini’s arrival, Edwards argued with teammates and criticized coaches. In 2006, he chartered a helicopter to attend the Ohio State-Michigan game despite being told not to go.

Braydon Edwards, traded to the Jets by the Cleveland Browns less than three days after the said incident of assault, will plead not guilty as was said by his lawyer Patrick D’Angelo.

The Jets gave out a statement that the team and management were aware of the said allegations prior to the trade and they said that they mean to allow the legal process to run its due course.

The Jets traded away WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Jason Trusnick and two draft picks to acquire Edwards, who could be a free agent after this season.
