Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag Are Broke!
There was a time, not too long ago, when you couldn’t flip your magazine or make two clicks on the internet without stumbling upon a fake a staged photo shoot, a plastic surgery story, a picture of Heidi’s boobs, or Spencer’s beard. Oh how they make their presence so loud and so proud back then and you just wished them to go away.
In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, the former MTV reality stars open up about how their lives went downhill after The Hills ended in 2010.
“We were living each other’s mistakes. Everything we were doing, in retrospect, was a mistake. The second we continued on our quest for fame was a mistake,” Pratt, 27, says. “This isn’t a business. That was the big thing I didn’t get: Reality TV is not a career. Anyone who says, ‘Oh, you can have a career in reality’ — that is a lie.”
Heidi and Spencer are victims of their own success. They’ve spent too much time thinking about looking good, about surgeries, when they could have done something to make their lives better. They lived a fake life in front and off of the camera.
Spencer says they never truly had any money, because they spent it as quickly as they got it. A whopping $2 million went toward hiring writers, producers, and engineers for Heidi’s failed music endeavor.
“I probably spent a million dollars on suits and fancy clothes,” Spencer says. “My whole million-dollar wardrobe—I would never wear that again. They’re props. Everything we were doing, we were buying props.”
Along those same lines, he adds, “I bought a big blue monster truck just to drive it on The Hills for an episode. Never drove it again.”
A lot of money went toward Heidi’s plastic surgery “addiction.” Now, she says, “If I could go back, I wouldn’t do it. I would go back and not have any surgery. It doesn’t help. I got too caught up in Hollywood, being so into myself and my image. I don’t regret anything, but if I could go back, I wouldn’t do it.”
Really Heidi? You don’t regret anything? How can you even feel sorry for someone who doesn’t even understand what the word means? But still, everyone makes mistakes and these two acknowledged it. It’s just a matter of picking themselves up and going to the right track.
