You Never Know! Anything Goes!

After the terrible death of American football quarterback Steve McNair, some pondered if Mcnair is worthy of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

According to L.A. Times, the Baltimore Sun conducted a survey and asked 44 Hall of Fame voters whether to put Steve McNair in the Hall of Fame or not.  The result is that 17 out of 24 respondents said that the former quarterback lacks the necessary statistics for him to be qualified.

“I didn’t consider McNair a Hall of Fame candidate before he died and don’t consider him one now,” said Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Daily News. “His numbers are nowhere close to being Hall of Fame-worthy.”

“I think Steve McNair deserves consideration for the Hall of Fame,” an unnamed voter told the Sun, “but ultimately I think he belongs like Joe Theismann, Ken Anderson and Boomer Esiason in the hall of the very good.”

In his games with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans and the Baltimore Ravens, McNair had a pedestrian 82.8 passer rating and never threw for 3,400 yards or 25 touchdowns in a season. After 13 seasons in the NFL, McNair announced his retirement in April 2008.

Last July 4, 2009, Steve McNair and a woman named Sahel Kazemi, were found in McNair’s home in Nashville with both bodies had gunshot wounds. Mcnair’s death is still being investigated by the police.
