Imagine a protective layer, a shield, covering an entire city. Kind of weird right? Only those you see in movies. It would look like a transparent cover is covering one huge city, really out of this world. But what if scientists say they could build one? Not an energy shield but a dome-like structure? Around a city constantly being attacked by the forces of nature. That would really be a spectacle to behold.

This are just plans by some people concerned about the fate of Houston in the near future. Searing heat, hurricanes and lots of natural disasters plague the city every year. Take for example last years hurricane blow, the Houston city center went down for a week, causing the city 10 billion dollars loss. That is just one of the many samples of why Houston is in threat.

Scientist’s plans to cover the city with light polymer, a much more suitable material than the suggested glass cover; it can be bought at the German city of Bremen, from a factory of Vector Foil Company. Light polymer is said to be the alternative of glass, durable and light.

The question is if they can do so? You could watch the whole project simulation at Discovery Channel. A pretty cool video by the way. I enjoyed watching it.

This project could be implemented. It could save not only Houston but the whole earth. But I’m going too far, getting ahead of myself. Let’s just wait and see how this project would evolve and hope that our scientist could think up of other more bright ideas to save our earth.
