A video Unknown Lifeform in North Carolina Sewer! was posted on YouTube last Tuesday and it has already been viewed for more than a million and a half as of the moment. The video was picked up by a sewer snakecam and it triggered the discussion that the creature is an alien life form, slime molds and jellyfish. It is not an unknown life form actually. The organism is called as Tubifex worms and is only about 1/2 inch across. It is also called Tubifex tubifex, sludge worm, sewage worm, or lime snake.

Apart from what we all think, Tubifex worms is actually common in many parts of the world. They grow best in wet, cold, and dark areas specially in lakes and rivers. Tubifex worms feed by absorbing bacteria and molecules through their body wall. They can also survive in the most polluted areas with little oxygen.

Tubifex worms play an important part in the life of water creatures. They are usually the source of food for fishes, leeches and crustaceans. They are also sold as the best food to aquarium fishes. So, there’s no need to be scared.
