Will Apple Announce an iPhone 4 Recall on Friday?
Ruckus about iPhone 4 Death Grip continues to grow. With some consumers’ signal complaints and dropped calls, Consumer Reports announcement that they can’t recommend the latest iPhone model with the infamous “death grip”, we still haven’t heard a single response from Apple or Steve Jobs.
On Tuesday, Apple’s share dropped to almost 4% wiping $11.2 billion off the company’s $398 billion worth. But, even this is the case, Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi said that “full product recall of the iPhone 4 would be highly unlikely,”
With the ongoing problem going on and Apple’s lack of interest to address the issue, some sites took the initiative to take further steps to express their frustration about iPhone 4. Take Consumer Report who advised users to remedy the issue by placing a tape on your precious phone where the antenna is located. Meanwhile, tech site Gizmodo is apparently starting a campaign asking Apple to give free bumper, which the company sells for $US30, or recall the iPhone 4 to fix the antenna problem.
Recall the iPhone 4? That would be crazy right? Never have we heard a recalled iPhone before. But it looks like Apple has gotten the message and can’t simply just ignore all of these. According to The Loop,
Apple on Wednesday invited select press to a special press conference to be held this Friday in California. Apple would only say that the press conference would be regarding the iPhone 4. No other information was available when I spoke with them tonight.
Could this be that they’ll finally announce the iPhone 4 recall? Analysts believe so because the damage had been done when Consumer Reports announced they won’t be recommending the phone despite its other awesome feature. They’ll be losing billions of dollars here. Whatever Apple is announcing on Friday, we’ll keep you updated.
